After struggling with financial problems because buyers refused to give them cash in advance for raw materials, the ladies in this metal working handicraft Self-Help Group have not only raised themselves out of financial hardship but also expanded their metal working business through Aastha’s Self-Help Group loan program.

After hearing about Aastha’s SHG loan system, a few group of ladies, all neighbors, formed a Self-Help Group for their broom making business. They have recently taken out their second loan after successfully repaying their first. Before their involvement with Aastha these group of ladies had the skills to make brooms but had no savings. Through Aastha, each woman is now making between 400 and 500 rupees profit per month after paying for the broom raw materials and loan installments, which they can use as savings.
